January 14, 2025 - Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala

Dear friends and family,

Today we arrived in Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala—a land of volcanoes, ancient Mayan heritage, and rich history. My excursion took me to Antigua, one of the best-preserved colonial cities in Central America. Walking along the cobblestone streets lined with brightly painted buildings, I felt as though I had stepped back in time.

Antigua is surrounded by three majestic volcanoes, creating a dramatic and unforgettable backdrop. I visited historic sites, including the beautiful La Merced Church, and learned about the city’s fascinating history. The vibrant culture and warm hospitality of the locals made this visit extra special.

Back at the port, I admired the striking landscapes of the Pacific Coast. Guatemala’s diversity is truly remarkable, and I feel so lucky to have experienced a piece of this beautiful country.

With love and a sense of history,
Chris

Me in front of where the Easter floats are stored. Guatemala is a predominantly Catholic country.

Baroque designs on one of the many Catholic Churches.

Moorish architecture used in this cloister vaulted ceiling has lasted since the 15th century through many severe earthquakes.

150 year old Ceiba is the national tree.

A beautiful macaw joined us for lunch!
