January 12, 2025 - Punta Arenas, Costa Rica

Dear friends and family,

Today we docked in Puntarenas, Costa Rica, and what a stunning place it is! Known as the "Rich Coast," Costa Rica lives up to its name with lush tropical rainforests, golden beaches, and towering mountains.

My excursions took me through the vibrant rainforest where I spotted colorful birds and playful monkeys. Our first stop was a monkey reserve. Yes, that is a white-faced capuchin monkey on my hat! We were advised not to wear our glasses because the monkeys like to take them and run away.

Next we went on a river launch to see alligators and many types of birds. “Tornado” was taking a snooze at the river bank and was unbothered by us. Fascinating.

Our last stop was a souvenir shop. Our guide suggested that this one had everything made in Costa Rica, instead of the People’s Republic of China.
