January 6, 2025 - Settling into Ship Life

Dear friends and family,

Day one aboard the Island Princess and it’s off to a slow start. After emptying out all the packing cubes from the three (3-count ‘em!) suitcases, using ALL the hangers for way too many clothes, filling all the cupboard shelves, and organizing desk drawers, I was ready to do a little bit of exploring.

I went to the tech desk to learn how to switch WiFi from phone to IPad, and that I don’t really need the $100/month AT&T WiFi service because I already have it with my package. So many things to learn! There are a lot of OLD people on this ship.

Later I learned a new (to me) card game, Hand and Foot, did poorly at playing Trivia, and scoped out the pools, but didn’t go in. I was too late for breakfast this morning so I waited for “Tea at Sea.” There’s something magical about sipping tea while the ocean sparkles all around. There I met two gals from SoCal, Margie and Sonja, and we decided to join forces.

Later at a singles meet-up, we introduced ourselves to Carla and she joined us for a wonderful dinner, then listening to music and the four of us dancing together to Oldies at Wheelhouse Bar. That’s us in the picture above!

After dinner we went to the Princess Theater for a full-house live performance by The Company Men.

It was a very busy, action-packed day. I will sleep well tonight.
