February 23, 2025 - Perth, Australia
Dear friends and family,
Today we docked in Fremantle, the gateway to Perth, and what a charming city it is! Our ship was greeted at the pier with a local band
I got to meet up with my friend Lydia Mitchell whom I know from two visits to my college friend Merrilee who now lives in Chile. Lydia recently moved back to Australia where she was raised.
We took the shuttle into Fremantle, had coffee and tea, wandered through some shops in the city center, especially UGG, where I purchased two pairs of Dawgs, a plastic sandal much cuter than Crocs.
Lunch was at a very typical British pub, Sail and Anchor, where we enjoyed a delicious meal paired with local beverages. We looked in vain for an art gallery that I had a postcard from. Dionne found the art gallery and shared pictures of Spinifex art, a type of boldly-colored aboriginal pointillism.
Perth has left a wonderful impression, and I’m so glad to have experienced this vibrant corner of Australia.
With love and a sprinkle of discovery,
Chris
